I wish to sell my car, how do I do it?


When you opt to sell your car to webuyurcar you are choosing the quick, simple and hassle-free approach.

By streamlining the car selling process we can offer our customers an extremely easy way to sell their car.

The first stage is for you to generate a valuation. Simply enter your car's license plate number in the box below and our system will generate for you an instant valuation that remains valid for the next 7 days.



Once you have your valuation, if you are ready to proceed with selling your car then you just need to click the 'book an appointment' button on the screen.

If you're not quite ready, don't worry, as your valuation remains valid for 7 days. You will receive an email with your valuation which contains a 'book an appointment' link. You can click this anytime over the next 7 days.

Once you have confirmed you wish to proceed you will be contacted by our booking team to arrange a day and time that best suits you.

We come to you for the appointment, either at your home address or your workplace whichever is most convenient. We also conduct appointments 7 days a week, and if we have the availability, we can also offer same day appointments.


What will happen during an appointment to sell my car?


At your appointment you will be visited at the agreed time by your local vehicle assessor who will inspect your car. This includes taking photographs of the interior and exterior and conducting a short test drive which is required in order that we can be sure of no major mechanical defects.

Following the inspection, a final offer will be made to you.

If you are happy with the offer our payment team will process the instant bank transfer. This is done while our assessor is still with you. This gives you the opportunity to check your online banking account, allowing you to be confident the money has arrived in your account.

Following payment, we will take the keys to the car in order that we can pass them onto our collections team who will collect the vehicle within the next few days. You won't need to be present when the car is collected unless it has been left somewhere that you would need to grant access to.


Will I need to drive to a local branch to sell my car to you?


No, you don't need to leave your house! We come to you to buy cars and we can visit you at your home address or at your workplace – whichever you find the most convenient.


Do you only buy certain types of cars?


We buy all types of cars from hatchbacks, saloons, estates, SUVs, 4X4s to coupes and convertibles.

If you own a rare or unusual car and you are not sure if we would consider buying it, then you can submit your vehicle registration number into our valuation tool to see if our system provides you with a valuation. Alternatively, you can call our team 7 days a week to discuss further.


Can I sell a car that still has finance in place?


This is another major advantage of using webuyurcar. If your car has any outstanding finance we will still buy it from you. As part of our service, on the day of the sale we will liaise on your behalf with your finance company to pay off the remaining debt using money from the purchase price. You then receive the remaining balance from the purchase price direct into your bank account.


Does the appointment involve a test drive?


In order that we can properly assess a vehicle and to make sure there are no major mechanical defects we do need to be able to take your car for a short 5-10 minute test drive.

Occasionally this is not possible, for example if the car is found to not be in a road legal condition.

Rest assured that all our assessors are fully insured to drive customer vehicles for this purpose.


Will I be paid on the same day?


Once you agree to sell your car our assessor will check all the necessary paperwork. Assuming everything is in order they will contact our payments team who will transfer the sale money straight into your bank account.

There is no additional fee for receiving instant payment, as standard policy we issue all payments via instant bank transfer as we believe it is important that all our customers have the assurance that they have received their money before we complete the appointment.


Will I need any documentation to complete the sale of my car?


In order that your appointment runs smoothly there is some documentation that you will need to have ready on the day. If any of the required documents are missing, we would not be able to complete the sale.

The documents that you should have ready to show our assessor are:

  • V5C: This should have you named as the registered keeper and the address listed will need to be your current home address where the appointment is taking place.
  • Photo ID: We recommend either your driving licence or passport.
  • Proof of Address: This is in addition to the V5C listing your address. A document such as a recent utility bill or council tax bill is recommended.
  • Bank Details: In order to be able to process a payment to your bank account we would also need to see either your bank card or a recent bank statement.

If you believe that you will not have all of the above available in time, then please contact us so that we can re-arrange an alternative date for your appointment.
